The Sherman Town Board met in regular session Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sherman Town Hall.

Members present: Lee Ellis Gerry Karpen, Cheryl Swenson and Robin Berg.

Members absent: Bill Benson

Ellis called the meeting to order.

Others present: Garrick Moritz.

Approval of the Agenda: Motion by; Karpen, Second by; Ellis.

ROUTINE BUSINESS: Minutes of the December 1, 2015 meeting was approved as read. Motion by; Karpen, Second by; Ellis.

The treasurer’s report was approved as read, Motion by; Karpen, Second by; Ellis.  

CLAIMS APPROVED TO BE PAID: Xcel Energy, street light $270.24park light $18.76 town hall lights; $42.47; Minnehaha Community Water, Dec. water $30.00; Lucas Swenson, 5.5 hrs plowing $66.00; Sanders Printing, Building Permits $101.40, Vouchers $35.60; SDML, 2016 annual dues $79.22; Garretson Gazette, Nov. min. $16.98; Jesse James, 12.9 gal of gas $25.72; SECOG, 2016 dues $197.00; Cheryl Swenson, 2 ink, paper, envelopes $41.66; SDPAA, insurance $2,434.051, void check #6446 was not received -$2,434.51; Lee Ellis, Kathy Benson, flowers $53.00;

OLD BUSINESS:

Our goal is to complete this project the summer of 2016. Multiple fundraisers will be held to help funding for the project, including an auction, porker run, antique tractor run and BBQ feed, Bullet July 30, 2016. A supper was also mentioned, too be held at First Lutheran Church. Karpen submitted grants and is working on more. Next meeting set for Sunday Jan. 10, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday Jan. 31, 2016 at 4:00 at the Bullet. Playground Equipment Sherman, SD www.gofundme.com on facebook.

Motion by; Karpen, for the road grader to go to Schuneman Equipment; get a cost on repairs Second by; Ellis.

Open floor to Old Business;

A total of 23carbon monoxide & smoke alarms where handed out to the residents of Sherman. One was returned.

NEW BUSINESS:

Set salaries for 2016, will stay the same, President will receive $30.00 per meeting, Trustees will receive $25.00 per meeting, Town Clerk and Treasurer $500.00 per year, Zoning Administrator $200.00 per year.

Appoint Town Clerk, Robin Berg; Treasurer, Cheryl Swenson; Town Paper, The Garretson Gazette; Town Attorney, Dean Hammer.

Town Hall may be rented, the north side only for $20. Tables and chairs may be rented for $10. Free to residents that live in Sherman S.D.

Rezoning applications cost $50.00 and ten dollars for application, twenty dollars for each add in the Garretson Gazette paper.
