The Sherman Town Board met in regular session Tuesday, August 1, 2017. 

Members present: Lee Ellis, Gerry Karpen, Bill Benson, Cheryl Swenson and Robin Berg.

Others present: Joyce Engebretson, Brian Matson, Brian Thode, Darcie Hanson, Danielle & Trevor Groks, Linda & Bob Askren.  

Approval of the Agenda: Motion by; Karpen, second by; Benson. 

ROUTINE BUSINESS: Minutes of the July 11, 2017 meeting was approved as read, Motion by; Karpen, Second by; Benson.

The treasurer’s report was approved as read, Motion by; Karpen, Second by; Benson.   

CLAIMS APPROVED TO BE PAID: Xcel Energy, street light $278.55, park light $18.42 town hall lights $33.25; Minnehaha Community Water, August  water $30.00; Brandon ACE Hardware, Strom Park $148.80; Darrin Trower, 1x mowing $40.00; Clay Bonte, 1x mowing $ 35.00; Bill Benson, 2x mowing $80.00: Robin Berg, 1x mowing $30.00, budget training $25.00, Mileage 59 at 53.5 cents a mile $31.50; Strom Park, swings, chains, thank you notes $192.62;

A motion was made by Karpen and seconded by Benson to allow the payment for the gravel from Jonas trucking. The motion passed with a vote of three ayes.

OLD BUSINESS:  Collapsing structure; Karpen gave a short update on the situation with the property at Lot 7, Block 7, address 110 Zeliff.

New Playground, Grand Opening set for Sherman Picnic, date is set for Sunday Sep. 3rd 2017,  Motion by; Ellis for a $500.00 cap on food. Second by;  Karpen. The motion passed with a vote of three ayes. 

NEW BUSINESS: A group representing Tayden's Ride attended the meeting to request permission to have a benefit/fundraiser in Sherman on Saturday evening, September 9th, 2017. They were seeking permission to block off the street in front of The Bullet Bar to have a band and live music and an auction that evening from 6:00 P.M. until Midnight. They assured the council they would be responsible for all security and the insurance for the Bullet would cover any accidents or problems. They also agreed to hold the town harmless if any problems arose. Additionally they asked if they could use electrical power from the town hall to power the band performing on stage. The Town Board agreed to their requests. After some discussion with the neighbors who were also present at the meeting, a motion was made by Ellis and seconded by Karpen to allow the group to proceed with plans for their benefit. The motion passed with a vote of three ayes.  r to
